Vision for the course

This variety of desirous and hateful thoughts

that strands us in the ocean of cyclic existence

once realized to be without intrinsic nature,

makes everything a golden land, child.

- Niguma, The Path of Illusion

Every moment is precious but some are easier to see than others. The ultimate goal is for each and every moment to be obviously beautiful. We work towards this goal gradually by cultivating a space for practicing this kind of appreciation of life.

The heart of Niguma

by Remrov Casey Vormer

The aim of each session is to build awareness towards living in a joyous way. Sessions begin with meditation, which serves to cultivate an appropriate intention and state of mind. Next comes the pranayana. Mantras and breathing techniques balance the subtle energies of the body. With these preparations done, we move on to the spiritual teaching, where we practice encountering difficult situations and how to deal with them. After this, we relax and end the session with a few yoga positions, which slowly build up the body’s flexibility and strength.

The work done in the sessions is supported by a text which describes the stages, challenges, and result of engaging in mediation practice. This text is called the Gyuma Lamrim or Stages in the Path of Illusion. It is attributed to Niguma, an accomplished Yogini from Kashmir living about one thousand years ago. Although the basis of improvement is primarily our moment-to-moment experience, this text helps us orient ourselves, review what has been accomplished, and discover what there is yet to accomplish.

On the subject of payment

I have a spiritual approach. I leave the evaluation of possible support to each individual. I want to offer the total freedom on whether to make a donation, when to make it, and the amount. If you wish to contribute in any other way, feel free to contact me and to propose something.

Generosity is the gateway to a spiritual path and it is the practice that balances more advanced paths, such as concentration and wisdom. An act of generosity cannot be such if moved by fears and constraints, it cannot be imposed or be a basis for future regret. Generosity does not buy or own anything, it has only one way, that of giving what is appropriate without expecting anything back.

If you wish to donate, please do so with an open heart, by carefully considering your possibilities and your motivations. Once you have decided, keep both your heart and your mind open to the joy of giving and sharing. Monetary donations can be made in person but also on this website.
